The Battle Of Plumpton is an opportunity for unsigned Leeds based bands/artists to compete for the following prizes:- Record 1 track with established Leeds producer James Kenosha (Grammatics/Pulled apart by Horses/Dinosaur Pile Up) at his own studio.
- Have your newly recorded track included on a limited edition compilation E.P which will be released nationally through Plumpton Presents Records (via ADA distribution) in March 2010.
- Play the E.P launch which will give your band excellent exposure to press and industry in attendance.
- Win a slot at Beach Break Live 2010, a music festival for 17,500 students recently voted best small UK festival.

The preliminary open heats for The Battle Of Plumpton will be held on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th January at Oporto on Call Lane (Leeds). The winner of these heats will then be required to perform at the final which will be held on Wednesday 3rd February at Oporto. The winner of this competition will then be required to perform at the E.P launch nights on Wednesday 10th March and Thursday 11th March.

The Battle Of Plumpton Rules:1. The Oporto preliminary heats are open to any band, solo artist or musical act based in Leeds.
2. There will be no payment for any artist playing this event at any stage/heat.
3. All bands/artists must be available to perform a 25 minute set at the preliminary heat on Tuesday 26th or Wednesday 27th January at Oporto.
4. All bands/artists must be available to perform a 30 minute set at the final heat on February 3rd should they win through to the final at Oporto.
5. All bands/artists must be available to perform a 30 minute set at the E.P launch on March 10th and 11th should they win in the competition.
6. All bands/artists must be available to record 1 track with James Kenosha on Tuesday 9th February.
7. No guestlist will be available for any bands/artist for the event.
8. All entrants must have their application submitted by Friday 8th January to:
oporto@plumptonpresents.com 9. All successful applicants must be available for a meeting at Oporto on Sunday 10th January to sign a rules confirmation sheet. They must also provide a tech spec for their stage set up.
10. Stage time slots will not be given to performers until 30 minutes before doors open (unless they are providing the backline).
11. One band will be required to supply a drum kit (less breakables) and bass amp on the evening for other acts to use. As a result, this band will get to choose which time slot they play on the night.
12. Entry to the Oporto preliminary heats will be free. No tickets or door charge will be applicable.
How voting will workThe winner of the preliminary and final heat will be selected in 3 parts. Two judges will vote for their preferred band. This will count for two thirds of the decision. The final third will be decided through crowd ballot vote. Crowd members will not be able to be cast their ballot vote until the final act of the night have finished their set.
The judges decision in these events are final.
